Why convert AVIF to ICO?

AVIF and ICO handle compression differently — check the comparison below before you convert anything you can't re-export from the original. The main reason to convert AVIF to ICO is compatibility: ICO opens in every browser, image viewer and design tool without a plugin, while AVIF doesn't always. If you're sharing a file with someone else, sending it to a tool that expects a specific format, or archiving it for the long term, ICO is usually the safer target.
