Why convert BMP to TIFF?

BMP and TIFF handle compression differently — check the comparison below before you convert anything you can't re-export from the original. The main reason to convert BMP to TIFF is compatibility: TIFF opens in every browser, image viewer and design tool without a plugin, while BMP doesn't always. If you're sharing a file with someone else, sending it to a tool that expects a specific format, or archiving it for the long term, TIFF is usually the safer target.

Frequently asked questions

Is converting BMP to TIFF free?

Yes — the first 50 conversions every month are free on any plan, including BMP to TIFF.

Will I lose quality converting BMP to TIFF?

TIFF is uncompressed, print- and archive-friendly raster format. We use the highest-quality encoder settings by default so visual or data loss is minimized.

Do you keep a copy of my file?

No, not by default. You choose a retention window at upload — immediate, 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days — and the file is permanently deleted after that.

What is BMP?

Uncompressed Windows bitmap format.

Will my converted file have a watermark?

On the Free plan, TIFF output includes a small "Converted with Convyx" mark. Pro ($9/mo) removes it, along with the 25 MB file size cap.

What happens if a conversion fails?

You get a clear error message and the job is marked failed in your history — we never silently drop a file. Retry is one click, and nothing is charged against your quota for a failed job.
