What actually happens to your file
The output is uncompressed 16-bit PCM audio, so expect a WAV file roughly 5-10x larger than the M4A source. That's useful when a tool requires raw, uncompressed audio — older DAWs, hardware samplers, some broadcast pipelines — but it doesn't restore any detail the original AAC encode already discarded.
