Why convert ODT to TXT?
Both ODT and TXT use no compression scheme of its own, so the conversion mainly changes compatibility, not quality. The main reason to convert ODT to TXT is compatibility: TXT readable on virtually any device, with or without the original app installed, while ODT doesn't always. If you're sharing a file with someone else, sending it to a tool that expects a specific format, or archiving it for the long term, TXT is usually the safer target.

Frequently asked questions
Is converting ODT to TXT free?
Yes — the first 50 conversions every month are free on any plan, including ODT to TXT.
Will I lose quality converting ODT to TXT?
TXT is plain, unformatted text. We use the highest-quality encoder settings by default so visual or data loss is minimized.
Do you keep a copy of my file?
No, not by default. You choose a retention window at upload — immediate, 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days — and the file is permanently deleted after that.
What is ODT?
OpenDocument text format used by LibreOffice and OpenOffice.
Will my converted file have a watermark?
On the Free plan, TXT output includes a small "Converted with Convyx" mark. Pro ($9/mo) removes it, along with the 25 MB file size cap.
What happens if a conversion fails?
You get a clear error message and the job is marked failed in your history — we never silently drop a file. Retry is one click, and nothing is charged against your quota for a failed job.
