Why convert TIFF to BMP?

BMP is a plain, uncompressed format — the file will likely be larger than the TIFF original, in exchange for maximum compatibility. The main reason to convert TIFF to BMP is compatibility: BMP opens in every browser, image viewer and design tool without a plugin, while TIFF doesn't always. If you're sharing a file with someone else, sending it to a tool that expects a specific format, or archiving it for the long term, BMP is usually the safer target.

Frequently asked questions

Is converting TIFF to BMP free?

Yes — the first 50 conversions every month are free on any plan, including TIFF to BMP.

Will I lose quality converting TIFF to BMP?

BMP is uncompressed windows bitmap format. We use the highest-quality encoder settings by default so visual or data loss is minimized.

Do you keep a copy of my file?

No, not by default. You choose a retention window at upload — immediate, 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days — and the file is permanently deleted after that.

What is TIFF?

Uncompressed, print- and archive-friendly raster format.

Will my converted file have a watermark?

On the Free plan, BMP output includes a small "Converted with Convyx" mark. Pro ($9/mo) removes it, along with the 25 MB file size cap.

What happens if a conversion fails?

You get a clear error message and the job is marked failed in your history — we never silently drop a file. Retry is one click, and nothing is charged against your quota for a failed job.
