Why convert WAV to M4A?
M4A uses lossy compression, so expect a noticeably smaller file than the uncompressed WAV original, at some cost to quality. The main reason to convert WAV to M4A is compatibility: M4A plays on virtually any device or app without an extra codec, while WAV doesn't always. If you're sharing a file with someone else, sending it to a tool that expects a specific format, or archiving it for the long term, M4A is usually the safer target.
